When was the last time you went anywhere on a private retreat or to a secluded place, away from your hectic schedule, daily grind, and incessant noise, just to quiet your anxious thoughts and connect with God again? Or just today have you seclude yourself from the world to be alone with Him, to let Him speak to your heart and remind you of who He is and who you are? When was the last time you spent just a little while, an hour or even 15 minutes, when you just shut the door – no phone, no noise, no people, no distractions – so you could sit quietly with Him, rest with Him, and just be with Him?
It sounds like a luxury, doesn’t it? But it’s not a luxury – it’s a necessity. Just as good food and exercise and plenty of sleep are needed to nourish and refresh our bodies and minds, we need time alone with God to refresh our spirit. Finding a solitary place is so necessary. --Anne Morrow Lindbergh
In intimacy and solitude time with the Father comes a sealing. In those precious, quiet, stolen moments He seals our hearts with His consuming fire. In those moments with Him is where the impossible becomes possible. Those moments produce fruit that lasts for seasons. Those moments build us up and morph us into children who are completely reliant and instep with their Father. It is in those moments that His all consuming fire shows us there is nothing outside the realm of possibility. His infinite possibilities become our possibilities.
Song of Solomon 8:6-7 (TPT) says it most eloquently:
Fasten me upon your heart as a seal of fire forevermore. This living, consuming flame will seal you as my prisoner of love. My passionis stronger than the chains of death and the grave, all consuming as the very flashes of fire from the burning heart of God. Place this fierce, unrelenting fire over your entire being.
Rivers of pain and persecution will never extinguish this flame. Endless floods will be unable to quench this raging fire that burns within you. Everything will be consumed. It will stop at nothing as you yield everything to this furious fire until it won’t even seem to you like a sacrifice anymore.
May you feel His tangible all consuming fire in your life!
